So you hear all over the news how the affordable healthcare act is in trouble.

From the insurer’s view, there is no profit in providing health insurance through the exchanges. Of course this is not well supported and in fact is quite the opposite. CEOs are making millions in compensation per year and in some situations have even given themselves raises and bonuses.

From the patients’ view, they are getting painfully financially penalized with increased premiums! The universal solution as always, get the people to pay more, premiums increasing anywhere from 20% to 116%. Ouch, someone call a doctor.

Unfortunately the doctor is not in because of another great financial solution created by the health insurance companies: decrease the number of physicians available within the network, known as a narrowed network.  This makes it more difficult for patients to see a physician and therefore increases the profits of the insurance industry. This subject matter has now become a legal focus and is becoming exposed to the courts.

But yet, it is still the law that you must have health insurance!  I wonder if anyone in Washington DC receives their healthcare insurance from a federal exchange?

For over 25 years, Dr. Nordella has served patients in the Santa Clarita and the San Fernando Valley and has a long history of confronting the Anthem Blue Cross’ business practices which focus on profit instead of facilitating access to quality healthcare and treatment for patients. After a 10-year litigation history with Anthem, Dr. Nordella was successful in receiving a favorable judgment--something the LA Times stated had not been done by a solo practitioner in over 25 years. He is currently the Medical Director at Porter Ranch Quality Care in Porter Ranch, California.
